Field visit @ Pajottenland

Pajottenland is a typical agricultural landscape, close to Brussels. The region is known for its hilly landscape and beautiful views. During the field visit, we will visit multiple flower strips that are implemented by some FABulous farmers. The flower mixtures sown were specifically composed to attract beneficial insects (natural enemies and pollinators) in order to control pest insects in adjacent crops. In several pilot regions effects of flower strips on pest control was closely monitored. These promising results will be explained during the field visit. We will also visit Brewery ‘3 Fonteinen’, which works together with their supplying farmers within a ‘grain network’.

Programme

• 11:30: Transfer Brussels (Paleizenplein) to Gooik (if needed, please indicate in the registration)
• 13:00: On-the-field masterclass on flower strips
• 16:00: Visit “Brouwerij 3 Fonteinen”
• 18:00: Diner
• 22:00 Transfer to Brussels
